This is so awesome! I’m in love! Look at their outfits! What a great song! What amazing dancing! Look at the screaming women in the audience tearing off their shirts! Guy with fangs! Other guy in military uniform. Android fashion model liberation front? What’s going on with the white horse? I really want to know the story. Not enough exclamation points in the universe!!

I hope there really will be a whole opera. I would go see it ten times!

Thanks to zenlari & the deadbrowalking LJ community for the amazing link!

Monáe originally planned on releasing “Metropolis” in four separate parts, or “Suites.” The first Suite of Metropolis, titled “The Chase” was released in August of 2007 via her label, the Wondaland Arts Society. The first single from Suite I of Metropolis, “Violet Stars Happy Hunting” has since become an internet sensation and is an underground hit.

Surely there is more by now?

I’ve been following Janelle Monae’s career for about a year now. She makes me really happy. I hear she puts on a GREAT live show, too, complete with scifi routines.
