ad targeting (str8) women scientists

I confess that I was tickled pink, as my grandmother liked to say, by this ad for “epMotion” — an automation tool for pipetting. Lyrics are at pharyngula, which is my source for the link, too.

This is amazing. I really wish I needed one of these, because I would love to support this company. I showed it to all the science people I know, boys and girls, and I know a lot of them. All approved whole heartedly.

That was awesome! Theory: Bio-Rad kicked off a whole genre of science music ads with “The PCR Song”, which, seriously, go check that shit out, it’s fucking hilarious.

…In fact, I’m looking to buy a thermal cycler. Price quote time…

Anyway, I loved that there were guys of all ethnicities. Noticed blond ringlet guy had a wedding ring, so they’re even going for the poly scientist market! ;) Reminded me of Aha’s video for Take On Me. Also loved the shots in Marin: yes! We in the Bay Area buy your crazy expensive automated stuff!

Thanks for the link, will send on to the lab Monday.

Bahahaha….that is the best ad for scientific equipment that I’ve seen, in general. They just don’t make good ads for geoscientists (male or female), at least none that I’ve seen. (Although even though I’m not all, Oil, Yay!!!!, Exxon had some ads on NBC during the Olympics that featured their scientists, and it was the first time I had seen a real female geophysicist on TV, as the main speaker in one of their spots.)

I loved it too! It was hilarious! Also, those dudes were hot, especially in their lab coats.
