… and Statement of Principles, Goals …

Over the summer of 2006 we are assembling a group of hardcore feminist bloggers, as well as a group of guest bloggers.

If you’re interested, write to lquilter at feministsf.org with “fsf blog” in the subject and introduce yourself.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for SF fans (all media and genres, fandom, and SF industries; including fans, pros, & academics) dedicated to intense discussions about SF; discussions that raise questions of gender, feminism, sexuality, and women, and examine how those issues intersect with questions of
* the individual, the society, the state, and capitalism;
* race, class, and other hierarchies & privileges;
* language;
* violence;
* family structures & social constraints on sexuality;
* religion, myth, and culture;
* access to knowledge and information;
* minds, madness, disease, health, and ability;
* science, technology & nature; and
probably lots of other interesting topics the hapless drafter of this document hasn’t imagined.

We’re looking for folks who can write and have something interesting to say, so some evidence of existing blogs, list participation, other writing is helpful but not mandatory. We are particularly looking for women’s voices that are not currently expressed in the blogosphere, or are not getting much attention.

We’re also seeking a diversity of perspectives — different feminisms, diverse backgrounds & experiences, various SF interests. Different feminisms might include “difference feminism”, Third Wave feminism, etc. Diverse backgrounds & experiences includes diversity of race & ethnicity, class backgrounds, work, family experiences, language, age, ability/disability/disease, gender presentation and sexual orientation. Various SF interests means literature, comics, TV/movies, videogames, other art, etc.

A sense of humor & ability to question your own assumptions, with good humor, are essential.

Postings may range from industry news, to con reports, to theory, to personal reflections, to book reviews, and so on. There is currently no frequency guide; some posters may post frequently, and others less frequently.
